OUR STORY

Hi, I'm Candice.

Founder & Executive Director, SoulSis Ministries

“I want to be the safe space I once needed and couldn’t always afford.”

Where it began

SoulSis Ministries was born out of my own journey from being completely lost to finding healing, purpose, and spiritual growth.

There were many seasons in my life when I felt broken, hopeless, and uncertain if things would ever get better. Even when my life looked successful on the outside, I felt empty and unfulfilled, like something was missing. I know firsthand what it feels like to walk through dark valleys. I also know the One who met me there. That's why SoulSis exists, not because I have all the answers, but because I know how much it means to have someone walk beside you until you find the light again.

Where healing began

Growing up, I experienced significant trauma that shaped much of my life. As an adult, I struggled with depression, addiction, unhealthy relationships, and a myriad of toxic coping mechanisms. I tried all the self-help I could, and over the years I made intentional decisions to pursue healing through therapy, personal growth, and learning healthier ways to live. Every step of that journey mattered, and every season taught me something different.

But when I had lost everything, my rock bottom became the beginning of my greatest breakthrough: a true relationship with Jesus Christ. I found a church and community that felt safe, and there I truly encountered God. He began to work in me, and I began to walk with Him. I gave Him my life and was baptized, and true healing began. I experienced a level of peace, freedom, and restoration I had never known before. He changed my life and transformed me completely.

None of it was wasted

As my relationship with God grew, I found myself praying the same questions over and over: "Lord, where can I serve? How do You want to use me?"

God answered those prayers in a way I couldn't ignore. He placed a deep calling on my heart to serve others, to walk with those who are lost, stuck, or hurting, and to one day care for vulnerable children and families in Jamaica, where I was born.

Looking back, I can see that none of it was wasted. Everything I survived, God was using to prepare me for this purpose, and now He's calling me to turn around and reach back, to help others find the love that saved my life, and the freedom and transformation that followed.

Why money should never be the barrier

My own story showed me how many barriers can stand between someone and the support they need. At times, the help I was seeking simply wasn't financially within reach, and I never forgot what that felt like.

So I wanted to build something where finances would never be the reason someone couldn't take their first step toward healing. What began as my own search for help has grown into a calling to make healing, hope, and practical support accessible to anyone who needs it and wants it, regardless of their financial circumstances.

What we're building

My dream is for SoulSis Ministries to become a space where caring for your emotional health is a priority, and where people can find faith-centered coaching, access to mental health resources, compassionate support, and a community that reminds them they are never alone. SoulSis is for anyone who is willing and feels they're in need, any race, any gender, any background, any season of life.

I'm here to guide, listen, encourage, and advise, but Jesus is the real cure for our suffering, and my greatest hope is that every person who connects with us will encounter the same hope and new life I found in Him.

As SoulSis grows, I hope to expand this mission by helping provide affordable therapy, supporting underserved communities, and, as God leads, serving vulnerable children and families in Jamaica, where my journey first began.

There's a place for you here.

Whether you're ready to talk or just want to say hello, we'd be honored to walk with you.
